"Atlas of the Moon" is an accurate and detailed work for persons interested in the visual pursuit of the moon. For anyone with a small telescope or giant binoculars, the detailed moon maps, displayed in a series of 76 individual close-up drawings, provide a wealth of moon topology. The book also groups lunar features and indexes for easy reference.5/5(5).   "The Hatfield Lunar Atlas" has become an amateur lunar observer's bible since it was first published in Brand: Springer New York.

COVID Resources. Reliable information about the coronavirus (COVID) is available from the World Health Organization (current situation, international travel).Numerous and frequently-updated resource results are available from this ’s WebJunction has pulled together information and resources to assist library staff as they consider how to handle coronavirus.   It has several versions of the Rukl's Lunar Field Atlas in pdf format. Depending on what kind of scope you have, and the orientation of the image, there is a pdf that will reflect what you see in the eyepiece. This is a very good atlas. Enjoy and clear skies.

This extraordinary Atlas is based on high resolution CCD images of the terminator area of the Moon under 47 different illuminations. Each image is displayed across two or three pages, enabling readers to see features as small as kilometers. For each illumination, accompanying text describes the major features shown in each view, along with larger-scale images of selected areas, indexed. I purchased the book Astronomy Atlas of the Moon by Antonin Rukl from because it was recommended to me by a friend. While it is a 20 year old out of print book, it is the best lunar atlas that I have seen. The book is very detailed and has been very useful for my lunar observations.5/5(23).

Format: Hardcover THE HATFIELD PHOTOGRAPHIC LUNAR ATLAS is a modern, updated and slightly revised version of the classic (~) AMATEUR ASTRONOMER'S PHOTOGRAPHIC LUNAR ATLAS by Sir Henry Hatfield. The original work was published just before man landed on the moon - and thus moon observation was a "craze"/5(8).

the kaguya lunar atlas is a unique contribution to the lunar literature and an exemplary book of its by: It is an up-to-date atlas of the observable part of the moon. Maps of the moon compose the bulk of the book's pages. The introduction discusses history, terminology, phases of the moon, and the moon's surface.

This is followed by maps of 76 sections of the near side of the moon, each accompanied by a small locator map.5/5(31). It's a shame this magnificent atlas of the Moon is out of print. The copy I ordered was a withdrawn school library copy.

What was a terrible loss for Huntley, Illinois, was my inestimable gain. Antonin Rukl's cartography - nay, his artwork - in this volume brings the lunar surface to life in ways that no photographic atlas possibly can.5/5(26).

The chart makes an excellent companion Lunar atlas. book and when used with a good atlas, such as the The Cambridge Photographic Moon Atlas (this is my favorite) or the Astronomy Atlas of the Moon (I own this one too) or The Kaguya Lunar Atlas: The Moon in High Resolution you'll be set for hours and hours of Lunar exploration/5(38).

The purpose of the atlas. The first edition is pages, extremely well written and richly illustrated with hand drawings and is on good quality paper. Should last a long time. The LAC charts are based on telescopic observation and may be updated by use of Lunar Orbiter. The new Atlas is supplemented by an introduction to its use, a short description of the digital re-mastering technique, and a completely new section describing lunar observing techniques.

At the end of the atlas there is an index of all named features and crater diameters, along with a summary table of the dates and times that the original.
